During his residential stay in Belgrade Nemanja Čađo prepared an artistic project and showed it in the exhibition “Silence is deafness here” in Podroom Gallery in the Cultural Centre of Belgrade from 4 to 25 July 2019. He held a site specific workshop dealing with the notion of comfort zone. The workshop was a continuation of the long term project he started to work on during the research for his MA thesis at the Norwegian Theatre Academy, Østfold University College. In “Corporeality of scenography: within the zone of third space” he explored how body and space appear in memories and histories. In Belgrade he worked with the curator of the exhibition “Silence is deafness here”, with art historians and with students of the humanistic sciences and members of visual and performing arts scene in Serbia.
With a lot of excitement, I can say that my objectives went beyond expected. In terms of research I managed to try some new ideas and engage with new notions. This resulted in opening up my practice within the field of choreo-scenographies which will find its place in the near future along with my explorations on the relation of body and space through strategy of zones of (dis)comfort.
