Maria Siaviki’s work is an international collaborative theatre project called “Prométhée-Nous”. It involves the construction of a scenography and costumes for the show which deals with the environment, science fiction and the myth of Prometheus. It’s directed by Falko Lequier, artistic director of the Bestiaire Collectif, a French company based in Rennes. Siaviki’s objective for this mobility was to build their sets, make their costumes, and participate in the assembly and disassembly of the sets during rehearsals and the first two performances.
This mobility project had many repercussions because the show is scheduled to tour France in 2020 and 2021 in theaters and festivals. The project will give visibility to her work as a theatre set designer outside Greece to a foreign audience but also to French performing arts professionals (directors, programmers, theatre directors). According to Siaviki this contributes to the creation of an international network.
I had the chance to use new materials and techniques, it was very important and constructive for my work. I managed to finish set design, props, masks and costumes during the period of 5 weeks. This wouldn’t have happened without the i-Portunus support.
