Lancelot Hamelin, Cynthia Charpentreau and Martin Selze
Sogni Italiani / Italian Dreams, is a performance composed of dreams and nightmares that were assembled in Rome during Lancelot Hamelin’s residency at the Villa Medici in Rome in 2016-17. These interviews were collected from residents living in different neighborhoods in particular run-down district in the Tor Sapienza peripherical area, and also from migrants in Galiano, a village in Puglie. During this investigation, he met different communities including children, parents, female activists, sleepers – and a group gathered for one night, the Night of Dreams, at the Villa Medicis to share and exchange their dreams.
This September 2019 Lancelot Hamelin undertook a mobility to the Villa Medicis in Rome again, together with French photographer Cynthia Charpentreau and actor Martin Selze, in order to stage an edited transcription of the stories collected in 2017 with an amateur group. The Italian dreamers and past collaborators met again. The performance was presented during the « Short Theatre Festival ».
We scheduled appointments to imagine how this work can come back to Italy and travel in Europe. It will be presented at the Club Silencio in Paris, 13rd of November.
