Emma Purslow

The first participants from the first five calls of i-Portunus 2020-2021 programme are coming back home with exciting mobility experiences.
Alkyona Quartet (Emma Purslow, Jobine Siekman, Marike Kruup) enjoying a residency at the Koroni Arts Festival in Koróni, Messinia, Greece. During the residency they made connections with the Koroni Arts Festival, who have already invited them to perform again next year. They also met a wide variety of audience members from all over Europe, and have been informally invited to perform at a festival in Hamburg, Germany, through this contact.
We learned lots of about Greek traditional music, and stylistically we are now able to incorporate some of this into our repertoire. We were also able to share some of our traditional music from the UK with the musicians and audiences there. The Koroni Arts Festival wouldn’t have been able to fund our trip to Greece as there were many costs in the end, so we are incredibly grateful to i-Portunus without whom this trip would not have been possible
