Araks Sahakyan Gasparyan
Araks Sahakyan Gasparyan collaborated in a small project-residency in Talin village (Aragatsotn region) about Eco Art. For that occasion, she created a new work called “Archéologies recyclées – Paper Carpet”, an installation of three different carpets: one ready-made carpet, one mosaic-carpet from recycled materials, one paper carpet with a new design. After this, she went to the Institute for Contemporary Art in Yerevan for another residency. Director Nazareth Karoyan invited her to participate in events organized by the institution and during the events she met various artists and curators, among them Susanna Gyualamiryan, curator of Armenian Pavilion in Venice Biennale for 2019.
“A story for all ages – Paper Carpets” is a project of confluences between the collective History and personal stories, the fictional and the real, the intimate and the social. It is the fruit of the convergence of different artistic and stylistic genres: textile and carpet design, photography and photomontage, biography, mythology, self-portrait, slogans and aphorisms, still life, baroque painting, portraits of Fayoum, unexisted flags, family photographs and archives.
During the opening of the show on 4th of September around three-four hundred people came and saw my work. They appreciated it and I also got some propositions for future collaborations and exhibitions.
