Agnė Jokšė worked with prominent curators Monika Kalinauskaite and Adomas Narkevicius in collaboration with the Contemporary Art Centre in Vilnius. CAC is one of the most prestigious art institutions in Lithuania and Jokšė was one of five selected artists for an exhibition with the aim to promote young Lithuanian artists for an international audience.
“Dear Friend” is a storytelling performance about platonic love and friendship between women, based on a script written within the context of Lesbian-Bisexual-Trans women in Lithuania.
During the residency Agnė Jokšė planned work sessions/consultations with artists and a writer, rehearsals, translation of the script from Lithuanian to English and producing subtitles for the non-Lithuanian speaking audience, installation of the exhibition and opening, and to conclude a workshop for kids age 7 to 12 “Building Bridges for Friendship” in collaboration with the artist Ieva Tarejeva at CAC Reading Room.
I had an amazing chance to work in close collaboration with cinematographer Odeta Riskute and sound artist Kata Bitowt and learn technical skills from them. Also it was my first time working in collaboration with such a big art institution as CAC, so it was a very enriching experience as well.
