General Information

i-Portunus is a demand-driven mobility scheme that provides financial support and allows direct applications in cultural fields (except for the audio-visual sectors) via a straightforward and flexible process, from either:

Hosts or Individuals

Currently, i-Portunus is implemented by two pilot projects, managed by two consortia of cultural organisations.

  • One project, headed by the Goethe Institute, has already launched five Calls for Applications in the cultural sectors of Music, Literary Translation, Architecture and Cultural Heritage and funds mobility for individuals.
  • A second project, headed by the European Cultural Foundation, will be funding cultural mobility via two Calls for Applications for hosts, called i-Portunus Houses.

The results of these two projects, in addition to the first project implemented in 2019, will be reviewed by the European Commission in designing the final form of i-Portunus and its funding parameters, as a permanent action of the Creative Europe programme 2021-2027.  The first projects in the new programme are planned to start in 2022.

i-Portunus Stories
We totally immersed ourselves in a culture different from ours, and we tried to understand its characteristics to bring them back into our music. A new skill we have acquired is to devote ourselves to composition in a set period of time and without necessarily waiting for the musical idea to arise on its own

It is worth so much to be able to visit the places you are researching about. I would not have the same outcome if this was not possible. So it means a lot for the project.
